Gebirgsjägers celebrate Chris mas. The eagle plaque on the wall is a coat of arms of Tirol – GJR 136 was raised from the Tiroler Jäger-Regiment that was Austrian army unit before Anschluss in 1938. In 1940 men of GJR 136 took part in two air drops in North Norway. 12th June 13 Ju52s dropped 137 men on Bardufoss airfield to secure it. 13th June 127 men under command of Lieutenant Siefen were dropped on Tromsø at 01:30 and took control of the town without difficulty. These men were not to be reinforced until 21 June when elements of GJR 138 arrived by sea.
